Two Years of Weregeek!
Two Years of Weregeek!

Hey everybody!! Raise up your Slurpees and join me in celebrating Weregeek’s second year! We’ve had more Shadowrun, more gaming, drama, and a whole bunch of zombies. I’ve got plenty of stuff planned for year three, and I hope to make it even better than this past year, so stick around!

To all of the new readers out there – I’m so glad that you’ve found your way here, and I hope that you keep enjoying the new strips. And, to all of those who have been reading it for years now – I’ve gotta thank you for all of your support. Your kind emails and amusing conversations in the forums make all of the blood, sweat & elbow grease that go into every strip totally worth it. A toast, to all of you Weregeeks – new and old! Arrooooooooo!!

Oh, and just a note… Today’s anniversary strip has a few webcomic cameos snuck into it. See how many you can name. 🙂

I recognize the four around the table as the Halfpixel guys: Dave Kellett (Sheldon), Brad Guigar (Evil Inc.), Kris Straub (Starslip Crisis), and Scott Kurtz (PvP) <– nice little group photo

I recognize Aron Diaz of Dresden Codak, and Mr. Jacques of Questionable Content. But those two go out of their ways to be easily recognizable.

  10. William McDuff Says:

The guy with the WHUT shirt must be Questionable Content’s J. Jacques, and shiny sunglasses beside Scott Kurtz would be Kris Straub of Starship Crisis, Scott’s partner in crime. 🙂 Skymall could be Wil Wheaton…

isn’t that the guy who writes questionable content over by the comic racks?

All four guys around the table are from half-pixel I think: Dave Kellett with the brown beard (Sheldon), Kris Straub with the sunglasses (Starslip Crisis), Brad Guigar with the skymall t-shirt(Evil Inc.)and Scott Kurtz with the DM hat (PvP). I have no idea who the others are.

Hmm… with Scot Kurtz at the head of the table, the rest must be, and also looks like, Scott Kellett, Krist Strub and Brad Guigar.
… I’m quite sure I SHOULD recognize more people, but names escape me at the moment :/

Love the comic, a female friend showed it to me and it totally rocks.
I didn’t like the zombie story, because I hate zombies, but it was very good despite my anecro phobia.
For some reason most of my favourite fantasy authors and webcomics are made by women.

You are a very talented, cool and creative person IMO.
You and your boyfriend Layne are super special awesometastic. 😀

Hi ! New reader from France, here.
I read this comics for a few months, and I’m addict, now ! I had never laughed so much reading a webcomic, before. No doubt I am a true weregeek. And a Shadowrunner (a female orc one). And DON’T touch my dice. 😉

Dresden Codak in the green cap?

    Posted November 24th, 2008 at 5:56 am
  21. Howodd Says:

Dresden Codak? I thought that it might be Jeph Jacques of Questionable Content. I also thought that is was Scott Kurtz (because of cole hat and a good likeness). The Girl holding the cat might be Danielle Corsetto of Girls with Slingshots. The rest I have no idea.
Alina you don’t know me, but I have been reading since the beginning of chapter 2 and love it. Thank you for all you hard work, and making people in my office wondering what has me laughing at my desk. Congratulations on 2 years and many many more.
PS: shouldn’t Abbie and Dustin be busting Marc chops for getting 3.5 Players handbook and not a 4.0 one?

  22. Dinky Says:

J.J from QC in the green hat 3rd from left?
foreground left Rich B from OotS?

    I think.

The closest I’ve come to seeing any webcomic people is Alina’s self protraits when she does a con update. I must say though, that gaming store is way neater than any I’ve been to.

  25. Vortexx Says:

Really, two years already? I suppose I wouldn’t know, since I’ve only just started reading the comics as of last week (finished all the archives though, in record time!). I gotta say this is probably tops on my list of “favorite webcomics,” mostly ‘cuz it’s so well written and does a great job of portraying people as they really are. The guys act like guys (not pervs) and the girls act like girls (not sluts, as is common with many other nerd-oriented comics). Plus, what’s not to love about the premise of this comic? Geekdom rules! Er yeah, anyhoo, the whole point of that ramble is that you’ve got a new reader who’s stoked about future comics (and felt like sharing said point in a very rambling fashion)!

Just wanted to say I just started reading you comic about three days ago (a recommend from my google reader :)) and have enjoyed it thoroughly. It reminds me of the old school Sluggy Freelance. Great work and here’s to two more years!

  27. Ha ha! no one noticed the vampire figurines in the bottom left! Yay! I’m in my Utilikilt. That’s awesome. Bad ass rendering of the display case with the warhammer figures. You are a better artist than I. I just throw some comics on a wall and call it a comic shop.

@^ They wouldn’t be busting his chops because they all play 3.5 and because 4.0 sucks.

My webcomic nerdery suffered a serious blow when I only immediately recognized Jeph Jacques, despite reading a good number of the comics by the other artists depicted. On the plus side, this hardened my resolve to catch ’em all! Erm. Ahem.
