New Year, New Start!!
New Year, New Start!!

Hey everyone!! Christmas is past, and we’re already well settled into the New Year. It’s still hard to believe that it’s 2010 already!! Where did the ‘00’s’ go? What will the future bring? (There’s only 11 years until Goblinization Day, after all!)

As some of you know, 2009 was an up-and-down sort of year for me. I went to lots of cons, met a bunch of you awesome folks, and started up Moosehead Stew. My career as a webcomic artist is just starting to take off!

But, if you’ve been following my Twitter and blog posts, then you also know that I lost not one but TWO jobs to downsizing this year. (Woo, recession…) Some people might take that as a bit of a blow, but I decided just to roll with it. And that means, trying to make a living through my comics!

So what can you do to help out? Lots!!

– The main thing you can do to help is to spread the word about the comic!! Dig, Reddit, Slashdot, Facebook, Twitter… These are all great ways to get new people hooked on the comic! There’s even a handy “Share This Comic” button just below the comic – look for the word balloon to the lower right of today’s strip!
– Got a local gaming store/comic book shop/other geek hangout? HERE is a handy flier that you can print out and post up wherever geeks congregate. (Think of it like a low-tech linking system!) And, as an added bonus, you’ll get geek cred for introducing folks to your favourite geeky comic.
– Check out the new merchandise in the new Weregeek store – We’ve got new merchandise, including dice earrings, button sets, and a new t-shirt design! More things will be added throughout the year, and let me tell you, there is some cool stuff coming your way!
– Preorder Weregeek: Volume 2! Production is well underway on Weregeek: Volume 2 –Creatures of the Night, and I’m hoping to get it off to press by February and have it back and ready to ship by March. So, beat the rush and pre-order your copy now!

Concerning your hopes about future… only two years left until the magic comes back^^

And maybe you also want to know how far your comic already spread. So please notice, I’m writing from Germany… and probably all my geek friends follow your comic regulary^^ It’s just like every geek can find a part of him- or herself in your comic.

So,good look for the upcoming year^^

I have to be honest here, this whole Hunter thing is the weakest part of your story, it doesn’t make any sense, and every time I see it pop up I feel like slamming my head against the wall.

I really enjoy this comic, but I gotta be honest, the more often these hunter guys pop up, the more often I consider removing the comic from my favorites list.

    @Anima

The Hunter thing doesn’t make a ton of sense because the story is still developing, and the plot is still, in a lot of ways, being staged. From what I’ve gathered so far, according to the hunters the geeks turn into horrible game-hungry creatures on the full moon (hence weregeek), and they’re somehow trying to protect society from the weirdness. This plot has been expounded upon a bit with the Geekmoot arc, an arc which, to the best of my recollection, didn’t actually involve the hunters.

Still the comic is mostly focused on a group of geeks getting together and having fun gaming, and the social intricacies involved in that. My favourite parts are the Shadowrun sessions, though I have to disagree with the opinions about 4th Edition. Some of the rules make no sense, but it removed about as many complications in the game as it gave. Also, I like a lot of the directions the world went to and has been going since the jumped to the 70s, especially since Catalyst took over the franchise. I admittedly might be biased, though, being friends with some of the developers o_o

I have to agree with Anima, the Hunter plot kind of makes me feel uncomfortable. I hope that it doesn’t get too epic and all, things like that ruin comics for me (like the whole time travel and intergalactic war stuff at GPF back in the days).
Otherwise Weregeek is one of my favorites right now, keep the good work up!

I love the store! The only part that confuses me is I’m still playing 3.5 and there aren’t a lot of classes or races that get +1 or -1 to anything >.>
