Second, Christmas is coming, and this year I’m holding a Christmas Commissions Sale! If you’ve ever wanted a custom sketch from me for yourself or someone on your Christmas list, then now is the time to get one. All of my commission prices will be reduced significantly for this sale!
Wondering how the commission process works?
- Go to the “Commissions Sale” page and select the option you’d like. (See pricing chart below.)
- In the “Description” area, write me a short description of what you’d like drawn. This can be anything from your favorite character from the strip to a roleplaying character that you’ve played to something even stranger! I only ask that all images be PG-13. (No nudity, no extreme violence.)
- On Saturday, November 27th, I will be drawing these commissions live on camera. (You do not have to be there to receive your drawing)
- If you selected the “Digital Only” option, you will be emailed a high-resolution copy of the image suitable for printing. If you selected the “Original Drawing” option, you will be emailed a digital copy AND the original hand-drawn art will be mailed out to you within 2-3 business days. Because of the high volume of mail at this time of the year, I can’t guarantee that overseas originals will reach their destinations before Christmas, but I will do everything I can on this end to make sure they have a fighting chance!
- Commissions will be drawn on a first come, first serve basis. If there are too many commissions to tackle on the Saturday, then I may have a second broadcast on another date. (Likely, on Sunday the 28th, but we’ll see how my hand is holding out.)
And that’s all there is to it! Even if you aren’t able to commission something, I hope that you can join us during the broadcast to watch the drawing and chat with everyone in the Ustream. I’m hoping that it will be a festive, fun event for everyone!

Jaymes Says:
It says the item is currently unavailable…why? Am I too late already?
Layne Says:
Jaymes, if you mean the original artwork we talked about, I took it out so we could save it for you. Email Alina for specifics, or maybe I’ll message you on Twitter!
Meg Says:
I’m unable to get items too, Jaymes. It also says “item is currently unavailable”. Sadness.
Layne Says:
Stand by, Alina is fixing the problems!
Meg Says:
Hooray! Can’t wait!
Layne Says:
Ok, looks like the links are all working now!
William McDuff Says:
I’m in for my three. This may have to be a long term project if no-one will go in with me on this idea.
Thenodrin Says:
I have a strange, fine print question.
Can I commission a sketch and then use it in a Fellowship of the White Star publication? Like a module or sourcebook? You’d get full credit. (Fellowship of the White Star is a D20 game that I write and edit for. I meant to gift you the rule book at Gen Con, but left it at home on my coffee table. I’ll bring it in 2011.)
I ask, because I know some webcomic artists who sell commissions for private use only.
Some fine print on the buyer side would be that I would be purchasing the sketch and then donating it to the company. We are a small company and have so far only used art donated by artists. The finance guy will strangle me if I set a precident for the company directly paying artists.

Jaymes Says:
WOOT! Payed for a commission for my girlfriend’s d&d character. Hard to get Christmas gifts for a girl that doesn’t like jewelry or clothes and has everything.
Alina Says:
Thenodrin: That sounds like it would work. If it’s possible to get a mention of the URL as well as my name, that’d be perfect. Just make sure to mention in your order that it’s for the sourcebook, and I’ll make sure to scan it in at a high DPI so you guys can size it as you need.
Dave Says:
Hiyas! Little did Thenodrin know that his Finance guy was lurking here
Absolutely, we can include the URL too in any publication we use it in. We usually add our artists to our web links page on our website too with a link to their website.
/cheers! -Dave
