Happy Thanksgiving, Canadian Weregeeks! Hope your holiday has been as splendid as mine! We’ve had absolutely beautiful fall weather here in Edmonchuck – in the low twenties, with just a hint of coolness in the air to remind you that Winter Is Coming.
I have spent the holiday so far lazing around, catching up on some for-fun drawing, and playing Ocarina of Time for the thousandth time. (It’s still awesome.)
Tomorrow, the Halloween storyline ramps back up, and this time it’s less sappy and more spooky, so stay tuned!

Lugh Says:
Thank the Goddess for Canadians! They help keep the United States from getting too full of itself. Or at least they try! Yay!
Sarge Says:
I see no Colin Mochrie. That is unacceptable.
Sarge Says:
However, The Cat Came Back is awesome, so all is forgiven.
MerchManDan Says:
And a good Thanksgiving to you, Alina!!
…wait, what? “WereGeek” doesn’t take place IN Canada, but somewhere in the States?? I am confused and disappointed.
Cliff Says:
Ah we finaly find out that Were Geek is in America its nice to know was kinda confused Honestly. I imagine it’s some were in upstate NY as before the turn of the Century NY and Canada had a pretty liquid border.
Oldskoolguitar Says:
Yes, thank Canada, for Hokey, Crowbar Benson and of course this comic. Now excuse me while I get some Turkey.
LoneHowler Says:
I agree with MerchManDan I had always thought our geeks were Canuckles.
If not Canadian perhaps from a city I have found that has a attitude much like our own, and is well known to be a strong geek culture; Seattle or perhaps from a city near there
Bartimaeus Says:
Yay! Though, tomorrow I get to do homework ^^
Daran Says:
Fine, this American will have a turkey sandwich today in honor of Nathan Fillion and William Shatner.
PaladinPhil Says:
*raises hand* One quibble here. “Canadian Bacon” although it did star John Candy, god rest his merry soul, it was produced and filmed by Michael Moore an American. I would have used a still for SCTV which launched a lot of Canadian comedians into Hollywood….But that’s just me. Happy Thanksgiving.
RiderOfPhoenix Says:
Thanks for SOME canadians. You’ll catch me dead before I give thanks for that abomination called Justin Bieber.
Ellen Eriksson Says:
Thank you for Hawk Nelson and Simple Plan!
Cold Iron Says:
One word to ruin Canadian Thanksgiving.
Bieber
Syster Says:
We’re in the high 20s here in northern Ontario. Must be the nicest Thanksgiving weather we’ve had for awhile.
And to answer the unasked question Americans have about Canadian Thanksgiving, here in Canada, we don’t celebrate pilgrims or the Mayflower or such. In Europe, there are 2 end of harvest festivals, one at roughly the equinox (end of grain and veggie harvest and commonly known as Harvestfest), and the other we’ve come to know as Halloween (the first frost). But the climate here in Canada is such that the two ended up being merged to a date roughly half way between the two. And that’s Canadian Thanksgiving.
Wayne Zombie Says:
@Sarge: AGREED! Colin should definitely be up there! Technically you might be able to include half of Ryan Stiles, he was born in the US but grew up in Canada.
Your Obedient Serpent Says:
A friend of mine in Hamilton refers to it as “Metric Thanksgiving”.
Having just gotten hooked on Moosehead Stew in the last three weeks, I had been running under the assumption that Weregeek was set in Canada, too. Certainly, the reports I get from my Hamiltonian friend indicate that geek culture there is at least as well-established and organized as it is here in the San Francisco Bay area.
I share everyone’s surprise to find that the strip’s set on the south side of the border.
MrLiterate Says:
…Hmmm…
Canadian thanksgiving…
And then American Thanksgiving… And then Christmas! Best! Idea! Ever! Apart from one thing… My pants wouldn’t survive…
Dru Says:
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving ^_^
*runs off to 2nd turkey dinner*
ScardyG Says:
There’s a day for giving thanks for Canadians?
Cool! Thanks for Rue Morgue Magazine, Obscure Zodiac, Penny and Aggie, and of course Weregeek!
I shall further celebrate with cookies.
Doug Says:
i always love the pics of abby sticking her tongue out in a “intently focused” manner
Antigone Says:
I’m totally going to celebrate this holiday from now on. But something’s off about that collage… Wait, where’s Wolverine?!
Daran Says:
Can’t Forget Amanda Tapping.
writemynamehere Says:
What feat lets you remove oven mitts in order to weild a wooden spoon in defense of desserts? That’s a pretty impressive move.
Also, many Americans thank us for providing the world with real beer rather than the American stuff that’s like making love in a canoe.
John Says:
Just commenting on what Joel was saying -
He needs to head over to tvtropes.com and look up the entry on “So Bad It’s Good” – of which Rocky Horror (the movie that the strip seems based on” is a Ur-example.
Erufailon Says:
I have no idea whether it’s just my PC, but lately my virus alert has reacted whenever I open this page. Just thought I’d mention it, just in case.
gina Says:
