Today’s sketch was done, like so many others, during a D&D game. The girl is actually my cleric character, Serryn, on whom Sarah’s D&D character is based. (She always wore blue robes with a white cloak.) It always amuses me to put little nods like that to my old games into the comic.
Also, a heads-up for all B.C. Weregeeks – I will be in Vancouver this weekend for the Vancouver Fan Expo!! Hope to see you there!

Scholar Of Fortune Says:
Post more of yiur detailed work. It’s amazing!
(It reminds me of old Elmore and Easley OD&D art. For me, there is no higher praise.)
ranthoron Says:
And who is that fabulous dragon?
bbullock Says:
Interesting to see this more realistic style on the character, compared to the more cartoony style you use for the comic.
Sauron Bane Says:
Aww, man… I won’t be able to go to the expo! I’m workin’ all weekend. Woulda’ loved to have finally gotten a chance to meet you
thecountalucard Says:
VERY nice!
Shadow Fox Kitfox Says:
That is the cutest dragon :3
Harrow Says:
Abbie doesn’t generally get that irate about anything, except lame geek culture. I’ve played in games where a player felt like the GM was deliberately harassing them through their character, and it can corrode friendships. If that’s the case, Joel needs to dial Pantero back a few notches, even if the others think he’s funny!
MerchManDan Says:
Yeah, I’m definitely with Abbie on this one. The other three are clueless.
agentksilver Says:
I only just now realized how much El Pantero looks like Joel.
KS_Claw Says:
I’m with Abbie =/ That guy better prove to be useful, and not just because he’s Joel’s character.
Quid Says:
While Joel may need to tone down his picking on Abbie a bit, I think she’s the one being unfair. Being a DM isn’t easy–you don’t just get to hack and slash and not worry about the consequences. You have to try to make the experience fun for everyone all the time, which can be verily unfun at times. Why shouldn’t Joel sometimes get to play a character he likes?
Grimpen Says:
In-laws in town, no Fan Expo for me
Were you there as an exhibitor or as an attendee?
As to El Pantero, he seems a little Mary Sue/Marty Stu (he does look like Joel and seems awfully super-competant), but then there’s his interest in Abbie’s character… Is El Pantero serving as Joel’s proxy in a romance plotline? Or is he just railroading the party to the next plot point in joel’s campaign? Better go and catch up!
Grimpen Says:
Forgot, the sketch is wonderful!
