Werewolf Sarah
Werewolf Sarah

After this week’s weregeek-y action, I figured that posting some Werewolf art was appropriate. I still really want to do a short Werewolf storyline at some point in the future, but haven’t yet found a good time to work it in. (Maybe it’ll be an extra content thing in another book) Β Here is a sketch of Sarah’s (potential) Werewolf character. I was angling to make her a Child of Gaia, though it might also be interesting if she was a Black Fury. Either way, I’m pretty happy with the design. Sarah plays so many well-coiffed, well-dressed characters that it’s fun to draw her letting her hair down a little, in both the figurative and literal senses.

Any guesses on the rest of the group’s Auspices/Tribes? Most of them should be pretty easy to figure out. πŸ™‚

Hmm… Joel would have to be a Shadow Lord Philodox, Abbie a Bone Gnawer (or a Silent Strider) Ragabash, Mark a Fianna (Galliard or Ahroun), and Dustin…hmm a Get of Fenris or Glass Walker, very different Tribes, but both could work. I don’t know, but I am excited for a Werewolf story.

If Sarah is a Lasombra as a vampire, she’ll be a Shadow Lord as garou. I always though she has a lot of suppressed urges, that surface in her characters, and geek side for the matter. But she’s a cleric in d&d…

I think Abbie would make a better Fury. Uktena, maybe?

Dustin will probably go for Silver Fangs Ahroun – that’s the closest thing to paladin you can get and a touch of aristocracy and gallantry, that he tends to show in his characters.

Joel would play a theurge, I think. As for the tribe.. He can go for Stargazers just for the gifts. Or maybe something insidious. Again, Shadow Lord springs to mind. But why the hell not – Wendigo?

Mark is the toughest choice. He’s so vanilla πŸ™‚ As he likes fighters, probably Get of Fenris would be a nice choice for him

Hrmmm Sarah i would see a Fury as the more interesting Sarah, but CoG work well. As for the auspice… definitly Galliard.

Joel on the other hand, yeah, Shadow Lord would be the obvious choice, but one thing we learned in our werewolf games is, that the not-so-obvious choices make for much more interesting builds. So Joel is a perfect Glasswalker Philodox.

Abbie is pretty straight when it comes to auspices: Ragabash. Though i could imagine here as a Bonegnawer Theurge as well. >Maybe< Striders, their Ragabash got a very nasty humor, which Abbie proved to have with her Gangrel. Also, Striders are underrepresented and it would be fun to see Abbie doing a Strider.

Now Dustin is hard. He mostly doesn't play to his own type, but he likes to stand in the frontline. Well, since this is WtA, he will be in any way. But he seems to like the general idea of playing combat-oriented characters, so Ahroun would fit. If he wants to break that role, i see him as a galliard or a theurge. As for the tribe, i really see him as a Glasswalker with a more "Urban Primitive" streak than joel, who'd be more a Corporate Wolf than anything else. If he wants to get his Paladin up, he can always go for Silver Fangs, any auspice, the archetype is doable by most of them.

Mark should be more easy. He seems to have a preference for downtrodden anti-heroic guys. Which rules out Silver Fangs, Get of Fenris and Fianna. Glasswalker – again – could work, but i honestly see him more as somebody, who'd say "I dunno, let me play a freshly changed cub and see how it works out". As for auspice, i'd go for Ragabash or Theurge. He has the innate curiosity for such things.

  5. Sword Says:

If I were to guess (with my limited Werewolf knowledge), I’d guess Dustin would be an Iron Master; Joel a Hunter in Darkness; Sarah would be a Storm Lord (with a full moon Auspice, since the idea of her playing a full-on, rage-based character amuses me); Mark would be unsure of what to choose and ultimately default to a Ghost Wolf; Abby would probably go Blood Talon (I think), but would definitely be a New Moon Auspice, favoring the rogue-type characters.

I don’t know what she’d play, but Werewolf seems like Katie’s kind of game, so I’d imagine she’d be all about it.

Sword… Those are the New World of Darkness Tribes and Auspices. You should be looking at the ORIGINAL World of Darkness. Werewolf the Apocalypse, not Werewolf the Forsaken.

My first thought was admittedly “gangrel?!?!” but I totally vote for Black Spiral Dancer. So very not-Sarah. ^_^

Bad habit of typing on the run. Of course Uktena and Wendigo should be the other way round in my first post. Abbie would make a fine Wendigo, not the brooding ‘winter is coming’ type but more pro-active, ‘indigenous people’ type. Or as Adam said, she can be a Bone Gnawer. But as she played rigger in Shadowrun, Glass Walker may be her choice too.
And sure she is a Ragabash.

Considering all, Dustin will probably play a Philodox rather than Ahroun. Ahroun is a choice for Mark.

As for Sarah, I can’t imagine her as a Fury at all. I still have to see a Fury played other than ‘I’m a big man-hating werewolf with an AXE! Feel the power of womenhood! Har!’, and that’s just awful. Of course, another type – more matron or crone-style Fury would be much more interesting, but I don’t think that Sarah is that mature. And Galliard suits her – not a mage, but a loremaster.

  9. FlawArtist Says:

I would say that Sarah is a Gurahi, Joel is a Mokole, Dustin one of the Bastet, Abbie a Corax, and Mark would want to play a Rokea at first, but after some explanation he will stick with just being a wolf (although I would like to see Abbie as a Rokea, just to see her shark smile)

Wow Flaw,…going a little atream and using all the Changing breeds,..good on ya. I can see Sarah as a Gurahl ,..though I like our esteemed writers idea of her letting her hair down as it were so maybe a more wild Gurahl,…. Joel as a Mokole not so much since they are more hidden and watch and remember types, he seems more the Bastet type [probably a Bubasti or Qualmi],… Dustin could be Bastet but I could also see him as a Munchmausen Ratkin,…Abbie could go Corvax or Nuwisha,…. and Mark well he would probably go standard Garou

Hmmm, I’m new to the whole Werewolf game (just became Cleiath), and I don’t know tribes too well outside of Fianna, Wendigo and Black Spiral Dancer(THEY SUCK SO MUCH). Auspice-wise… I think Mark would be Ahroun, Dustin would be a Galliard, Abbie would be a Ragabash, Sarah a Theurge or Philodox, and Joel… I haven’t a clue, I haven’t been in long enough to which Auspice excels in manipulation.

    Sarah: Theurge/Child of Gaia
    Dustin: Philidox/Wendigo
    Mark: Galliard/Fianna
    Joel: Auhroun/Glasswalker
Abbie: Ragabash/Silent Strider (Nuwisha Sheep’s Clothing)
    Katie: Theurge/Black Fury
    Darren: Galliard/Bone Gnawer
Sword: The douchebag that no one wants to game with.

Sword, if you’re into NWoD, this really isn’t the comic for you. Not only is everything WoD-related here OWoD, most everyone who reads it is into OWoD. Posting NWoD-related content in a discussion concerning the Old, and then stating that you don’t care (implying both that we’re playing an inferior line and that you’re entitled to derail the discussion because we should listen to you) is beyond childish.
You might feel that your posts make you look like a classy games connoiseur fighting against a raging horde of fanboys.
The mental image I get is that of a 15-year-old emo kid who refuses to play OWoD because he was raised on Requiem.

Btw, did you hear that there will be a WtA Anniversary edition, like the vampire one? Should be great, considering that VtM Anniversary was pretty decent

  19. Nostri Says:

Sword- The reason for referencing the old WoD material is because that’s what was referenced in the comic. Referencing the new Werewolf makes about as much sense as referencing the new Vampire when talking about the vamp larp they go to in the comic, it’s a different game.

Just to break with general opinion….

    Joel: Glasswalker Philodox

Mark: Lost cub πŸ˜‰ Evan Heals-the-Past any one? LOL

Sarah: I seriously could see Sarah as a Silverfang…Am I alone in this? Auspice would definately be Galliard though

    Abby: Nuwisha

    Dustin: Child of Gaia Ahroun

Not typical picks I know but sometimes stepping into something new can be a lot more fun then you imagine..

    OH and of course…..

Sword: Adjuba πŸ˜‰ what no one else remembers them?

This is a great comic for everyone, regardless of New or Old preferences. Alina’s characters introduced me to the WoD and as a total noob I couldn’t even tell the difference in the comic. Everybody has different play styles they like better, and that’s no reason not to keep your imagination open to cool possibilities. I hope we don’t start nitpicking about what version of D&D they’re using!!!

  22. Addy Says:

Abby – Bone Gnawer Ragabash (she’s totally a ragabash and just strikes me as a gnawer)
Joel – Shadow Lord Theurge (he is the spiritual head of this rag tag group in real life… and totally a shadow lord)
Dustin – Fenrir Philodox (He is usually the voice of reason yet when he weregeeks out he’s kind of a hulk and that fits best with the Fenrir or the Wendigo but he’s not native american enough to pull off wendigo)
Sarah – CoG Galliard (She’s usually too nice for her own good and her fanfic shows off her galliard side)
    Mark: Fianna Ahroun

Hm. Well, using the Cast page for a few hints…

Mark: He tends to play “straight vanilla”, so he’d likely wind up as a Get Ahroun for simplicity, much like his orc barbarian.

Sarah: (looks back at the Vampire game) Well, if she likes sneaky and devious, Shadow Lord Philodox is the way to go.

Dustin: Hm. Given his D&D Paladin and his Ventrue, he’d probably be willing to play a Silver Fang Ahroun. I wish him luck with the insanity…

Joel: Probably a Glass Walker Theurge, running the bawn. His attitude certainly fits a Glass Walker…

Abbie: Given her Gangrel and her elf ninja, she’d probably lean toward a Bone Gnawer Ragabash. Maybe even Metis.

  25. Wanderer Says:

Mark: By the same token, Blood Talon Rahu. Very simple characters.

Sarah: Storm Lord Elodoth, again for the devious and sneaky aspect.

    Dustin: Hunter in Darkness Ithaeur

    Joel: Iron Master Cahalith.

Abbie: Ghost Wolf Irraka. Why tie yourself down to just one tribe, after all?

  28. Gaylegee Says:

    Ohhh yes…

Abby: Fianna, Ragabash, trickster Abby will always find a way to irk the Shadowlords. Fianna because Bonegnawer (while is a very good tribe for Abby) I see her as part of a large group…more so part of a large, loud, bouncy group much like herself.
Sarah: Shadowlord, Philadox. I know, probably off but Sarah does a fine job playing a darker character (see Priscilla) and I think sometimes she DOES enjoy being a tid-bit evil πŸ˜› balances out the good dontcha know. And Philadox because she would be the voice of reason to keep ’em all in line.
Joel: Shadowlord, Galliard. Who better to tell on everyone when they did something wrong?
Dustin: Child of Gaia, Theurge. Dustin would always keep the paired shadowlords on the side of right and probably make a few bad ass fetishes for everyone.
Mark: Get of Fenris, Ahroun. Lol the easiest (and most fun) to play EVER in WtA has to be a Get Ahroun. ‘Fighty’ happened to be my Get’s name when I first started. Nuff said in my opinion.

x_x; I play nWoD Mage (and touched on Hunter) but the people I play with used to be – or still are in Cam. and know a lot more than I do, they geek all over the room about new/old werewolf/vampire if it gets hinted at.
I know enough to know you were referring to old world when asking for guesses, but aside from that…
Can’t yet distinguish tribe names from asupice names – As my mage character(s) I just understand they’re Furry Blenders of Doom and try /not/ to twirk them off.
