Today’s cameo is by none other than Gordon Byerley!! He seems somewhat unsettled by the fact that a crazy woman has just vaulted the fountain behind him, but what he doesn’t know is that Abbie isn’t powered by caffeine, but by sugar and THE SPIRIT OF LAUGHTER!!!
Oh, and drama continues in the background. I imagine that Mark, Sarah and Katie are still back in another part of the mall, and didn’t bother trying to catch up when Abbie went zipping off in search of games.

Twentydragon Says:
I can’t stop picturing Abbie with Pinkie Pie’s hair now. XD
Will Says:
Oh lord, don’t I know how Sarah feels. :<
aunt_zelda Says:
Ahahahahhaaa, Sarah! *can’t stop laughing at her FACE and the WORDS*
Also, Mark, I sense that your relationship with Jess is coming to its end. Hopefully this will not produce too much angst.
Harrow Says:
+1 for Sarah’s expression of existential agony! Divided loyalties have never looked so painful. Oh, and “spirit of laughter”… is that what the kids are calling meth these days? Either that, or Abbie has some kind of Rifts-ian symbiote that gives her a hopped-up metabolism.
geeksquared Says:
I don’t usually care about romance sub-plots but could Mark and Jess hurry up and end it already so Sarah can jump his bones?
Plasma Man Says:
I think Mark, Sarah & Katie have learned by now that trying to keep / catch up with Abbie is an exercise in futility.
Lord Bounty Says:
So do we get to write up a Sheet for Abby now as a FATE character, using the Dresden Files rules, Scion of Laughter?
FSilvermane Says:
I still see Abby as a Pookah from Changeling [the older version not the updated one],..the whole idea of bouncy, loud, curious, and wired who can still whoop you [laughing the whole time ofcourse]. As for Sarah and her divided loyalties I think she is starting to see the cracks in the relationship and is more anguished at the “almost but not quite” and the fact that she truly has fun with Jess,….
puppydpurple Says:
Disappointing. Sarah needs to get over this Mark thing. More sad that the most “creative” romantic plot development is that geeks can only date geeks which is not only cliche but exceedingly small minded and out dated.
scott Says:
So, no one else thinks that Sarah is the bad guy here? I mean, there’s a reason she keeps having these moments of conflict of interest. It’s because what she wants is wrong and if she actually cared about Mark she would be trying to help him, not constantly taking advantage of his innocence.
Takley Says:
All I’ve got to say is, least its not the spirit of Vengeance.
Darcy blue Says:
as much as id like to see the tortured couple break up, I think it would make for a much more riveting story if Sarah was working with the bad guys this entire time and has been spying. or just as good converts to the geek way. but the latter seems less likely.
Will Says:
Uh, Scott, how is she the bad guy?
The bad guy would be acting on her impulses. The bad guy would be working to break up Mark and his girlfriend. The bad guy would NOT BE BROKEN UP ABOUT LIKING SOMEONE WHO WAS TAKEN.
I think your definition of a bad person really needs a bit of a tweak. She’s a human with slightly bad impulse control (yes, the LARP thing is going a bit too far) but she realizes that and she hasn’t taken it in to reality at all.
I don’t know when the last time someone who actually stopped themselves from something they know is wrong was considered the bad guy.
In fact, I respect Sarah for wanting to keep her friendship with Jess, thus refusing to get in between her and Mark.
She has thoughts. Big f-ing deal. We all do. And those of us who say we don’t are downright lying. She’s not acting on them in a way that is consciously attempting to break them apart so I really don’t understand at all where you’re coming from.
SmilingAhab Says:
@Scott: eh, people are complicated. I’ve seen worse from better.
So is katie talking about Jessie in panel three, or is she talking about Mark but says “her” to spare his feelings?
Mason L Maurer Says:
Are we getting close to the part where Mark and Jess split up so I and Sarah can get together yet?
Mason L Maurer Says:
*He
absolut3zero Says:
I do that exact same thing every time a new Max Payne is released. Although, lacking any fountains in my house, I usually have to settle for tall leaps over my stuffed Eeyore collection.
Dr. Deathproof Says:
@Twentydragon Ypu have officially broken reality. It’s so clear now… Abbie IS Pinkie Pie in our world.
*sigh* I love Abbie… how come you can’t exist in real life?
katem Says:
@puppydpurple Though I agree that Sarah needs to get over Mark, I think it’s great that Mark and Jessie are making a conscious effort to respect each other’s very different interests. He goes with her shopping, she recognizes he’s bored and tells him to have fun with his friends. Being a third wheel for a day does not a broken relationship make.
KenderBryant Says:
OH MY GOD! Abby could give olypmic-class gymnasts a run for their money! WITHOUT TRAINING!
