Hipster Gargoyles!
Hipster Gargoyles!
Second part of code:

I don’t usually color my sketches, but this is less a sketch and more a peculiar fit of madness that seized me after I heard that Disney has all 3 seasons of Gargoyles available for streaming on their site.

I immediately had to watch MORE THAN A FEW episodes, and wallowed in a fit of nostalgia for the rest of the day. Sometime in the midst of that madness, the phrase ‘hipster Gargoyles’ came to mind, and I immediately had to draw that. Brooklyn, as the “coolest” of the three younger Gargoyles, was the easiest to come up with an outfit for. I’m still working on an outfit for Lexington, mostly because I can’t figure out how a shirt would work on a dude with wing-arms.

And Broadway (who is the best) is, of course, a geek. I think I have to draw him in a utilikilt and Minecraft t-shirt.

There’s one small problem with your idea for Broadway’s look: He’s a geek, yes, but he’s a FILM geek, with a thing for black & white detective movies. The few times that they’ve shown him wearing clothes his look included a trench coat, fedora, and white shirt with tie…

Surf: Well, that particular outfit has the additional advantage of concealment…

But as for Lex, I’m thinking no shirt, but still wearing a tie.

  6. I beg of you: Please draw Bronx. Not necessarily as a hipster, though; Bronx is awesome as he is.

  7. TGAP Steve Says:

For Lex I kind of Imagine him with plaid checkered pants (Cut on the sides from belt to knees for the wings (he must have space for the normal belt to go through anyway)) Maybe with a classic Nintendo-controller belt-buckle, carrying a beat up computer, a puffy “reversable” vest while underneath a Vintage “Gargoyles” logo T-shirt. Perhaps a beret for his head for that super old-school beatnick look. (and of course some tattoos on the exposed skin of his wing nubs and tail)

So… let me make sure I understand this. Disney has flat out refused to put out the second half of season two for Gargoyles, citing poor sales returns on the other DVDs. But now they’ll stream the whole works for free?? I want to give them money for the DVDs and/or other Gargoyles merchandise they refuse to carry at the Disney store!!

I love you! Woo gargoyles! <3 *ahem*
I'd really like to see the other drawings you come up with. They're all awesome and it's nice to see some appreciation of a great story and cast.

Lexington would definitely have on a minecraft shirt and tie. World of Warcraft just isn’t intelligent enough for him. And yeah, Bronx would be dressed in clothes befitting an old time detective movie. He’d be a retro. But of course, you liked Hipster Broadway BEFORE he was cool.

Hey Alina! It was nice to meet you at Gen Con, and thanks once again for bringing that art with you! Anyways, since you’re a big fan of both Shadowrun and Gargoyles, I figured you might get a kick out of these. I wrote them up ages ago (1999ish or so). The short story I sadly never finished, but the rules are 3rd ed, which I know you prefer over 4th anyway :) http://bull.dumpshock.com/gargoyle.html and http://bull.dumpshock.com/garg1.html

Finally, my 7-year-old can see the rest of the series! I hope they get enough traffic for them to realize there is enough demand to make DVDs profitable.

  19. Dierna Says:

Nice that all the seasons of Gargoyles are available in free streaming now! Even if Goliath Chronicles isn’t canon (except for the first ep).

Only true Gargoyles canon is the stuff written by Weisman darnit. I want a season 4 (in comic book form like Clan Building was!) and Time Dancer (Brooklyn’s time traveling adventure where he met his wife and gargoyle beast and started his own family…) and all the other storylines Weisman has in the Gargoyles bible!!

It’s on streaming..? Welp, now I have no excuse for not seeing it. The mound of schoolwork’s out, seeing as how I had to climb over it to get to this glory. (Also, the mere concept of a freakin’ gargoyle in a Utilikilt is oh so very glorious.)

ROFLMAO! I can totally see him coming out of Coffee of Doom (of Questionable Content) after hanging with Martin, Faye and Dora! Marigold would probably fan-girl all over him, and Hanners would freak out. Steve would be all ‘Sup man?’ while Pintsize would probably blow something up.
