It is, once again, the best time of the year to be a LARPer!! Halloween!!!
Not only do we get to wear our costumes in public without anyone looking twice, but come tomorrow, everything will be marked down!! I know I have some stocking up to do on scar liquid, fake blood, and spider accessories for my Changeling character.
On a side note, I’m super happy with how today’s strip turned out. I don’t usually go so overboard on forest scenes, since you can get lost coloring in all the moss and bark and wonderful little organic shapes, but I had a particularly “Princess Mononoke” feel in mind for that third panel, and while it’s nowhere near Miyazaki, I’m quite happy with how creepy it turned out.
So, enjoy the day!! Go out and freak some mundanes, take the munchkins out in their jedi costumes, or even just stay at home and watch some zombie flicks. Halloween, despite what the goths will tell you, doesn’t happen everyday!

DarthThought Says:
wow….that first panel….just wow….i mean this WHOLE strip is beautiful but that…..that first panel took me by surprise
draginbeard Says:
Oh wow, this is a beautiful page!
draginbeard Says:
The bats against the moon are great
Lord Bounty Says:
I’ve dragged my old Nocker outfit out of storage for Halloween this year.
Saddly my wife will not be joining me this year, nor will I doing the full face makeup (work is a little conservative.) It’s a pity, as everyone agreed that in full makeup, and more than a little caffine, my wife and I made the finest pair of Nocker’s they’d ever seen. B) YEEeeeaaahhh!
LoneHowler Says:
It’s the first year I won’t be decorating my house and spooking the little monsters that roam the night. I am a sad geek, oh well tommorow I’ll be raiding the stores for discounted candy, decorations, and costumes. Next year I won’t have to deal with a rebellious gallbladder, and my display will be even greater than last years.
phoenixschatten Says:
Awesome work! But panel 3 reminds me of Mushishi by Yuki Urushibara rather than Mononoke. Regardless, it’s a very beautiful forest scene that fits perfectly to create an atmospheric image.
Enough said, except one thing:
Happy Halloween to all of you!
SomeOne Says:
In my opinion the only creepy thing in panel three is the four legged thing in the background.
It looks very nice yes – but not creepy to me.
Solokov Says:
Third panel at sight of the one figure waaaaaay in the back, the one in black I started humming the jeff wayne’s war of the worlds theme music, then I realized it has four limbs and not three, which makes me sad.
MerchManDan Says:
No tricker-treaters allowed inside my apartment building, so I’ll probably go out somewhere. There must be SOMETHING going on.
Technomancer Says:
Just to say… I love that third panel!
There are awesome things in that third panel!
Aita Says:
So pretty~ Also, given that I tend to link people this comic because it does a great job of explaining gaming to mundanes, getting deeper into the WoD is awesome~
Whims Says:
The transition in colors behind the silhouetted figures from the first to second panel really striking, too. The night, the fire, and then the forest…the mood is set without having to refer to the text.
KenderBryant Says:
Oh NOES! MARK HAS ED CULLEN HAIR! He must be purified! QUICK! Somebody flog him with boiled ramen noodles! THEN we must douse him in Mountain Dew to rid him of the evil that possesses him!
BTW, I’ll be tweeting you a pic of my Weregeek costume! I managed to do it this year.
thecountalucard Says:
I was the Ice King. :3
Dedwrekka Says:
The figures in the bottom left look almost exactly like ones from Howl’s Moving Castle.
Kyrie Says:
Giving me flashbacks to my old Galliard Character. I actually met my husband through a Garou game.
FSilvermane Says:
My neighbors both love and hate me. They are wary of the long haired freak who collects swords and blackpowder guns most of the year,…. then come Halloween they actually ask me to take their kids out Trick or Treating because they know that 1) I am always armed with something so I will not let anything happen to the kids, 2) I enjoy Halloween as much if not more than the kids, and 3) I am probably the only one who can keep up with all the kids. This year I am donning my Pirate gear to take the kids out,…. I will also probably do a cannon shot before leaving once the sun sets,…..
Cori Says:
You guys really ought to play Brock’s Werewolf game next spring, if you can; it’s amazing.
The Wolf Kin Says:
I still continue to be envious of the fact that you get to LARP. Despite being at University, I can’t find anybody to LARP with, let alone even regular RPing with D&D and the like.
Sigh, one day.
Don B Says:
I think mark is Bone Gnawer
Søren Hjorth Says:
ARGLEFARGLEBARGLE!!!
O_O
They’re Werewolf LARP’ing?! I thought they were out to play the tabletop thing around a fire?
This has just become my favorite arc, in the entire history of the comic! (I do WtA LARPing myself)
<3
And yes, little Mark-cub, there are far more dangerous things out there than Garou. You'll enjoy your first Nexus Crawler.
(For anyone a fan of the Classic Werewolf, and unaware of it. The Kickstarter for Werewolf: The Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Edition still got 10 hours to go.

Ryu Says:
Ran around all day today covered in fur, with fangs and claws, and animatronic ears (nekomimi).
It was a very good day.
Also, I laughed when I saw this page, because, guess what?
Today, I was a werewolf!!!
Awesome.
TB Says:
If you were going for a Miyazaki look, you did a darn good job of it.
I have fantasies of him making a movie of a book I wrote someday…
Robza Says:
I do like this comic – captures the dual world essence nicely.
Also, terrifying murloc spirit in the lower right of panel three!
DerektheBard Says:
Really liking the use of colours in the werewolf strips. I would honestly buy Panel 3 as a print…its gorgeous, and I think captures both the order and chaos of the forest in the Umbra.
I admit…I LOATHE Apocalypse with a passion I reserve for few other RPGs, and have always found it to be the hardest for a new player to integrate into without feeling discouraged or bullied. “Oh there are worse things in the night, young pup…go kill one right now…you won’t get any renown for it if you succeed, but if you manage to wound it before it kills you then the rest of us will have an easier time when we hunt it later.”
Skratch Says:
Great Panel, I love it! Especially while packing my stuff for our Samhain play.
And remember, cubs. We are the good guys. Not the nice ones…
