Close up of Abbie’s Army
Close up of Abbie’s Army

I got a request for a closeup shot of the faerie army, so here it is! I really went a little nuts on the small details that wouldn’t necessarily show up at full size – things like the cherry blossoms on the tree and the myriad of little sprites and birds flitting around, but I think they really help to sell the overall saccharine theme :)

Having never played tabletop miniature combat ( i think that’s the right description?) Nevertheless i would he terrified of having that as an opposing army. It’s a dammed if you do and dammed if you don’t situation. if you win its no respect “hah i beat your army of cute fairies! sounds really lame out loud” however getting your ass handed to you by said army?… well played way to screw with your opponent i want to see an orc horde or a 40K spacemarine army done in ridiculousness just to watch the die hard players suffer apoplexy

Lovely! I was so happy for the fact that Warhammer’s in the picture again, and Fantasy Battle getting a go instead of 40k for once! And yeah, woodies draw that kind of a player base EXACTLY – well played!

Nice to see how you’re keeping up with so many franchises.

I’m surprised that Sarah and Abby aren’t going bonkers about Sailor Moon Crystal (starts tomorrow on Hulu).

No! This isn’t saccharine — this is the real thing, pure-quill sugar straight from the cane!

  12. I heart Abbie! I’m going to print that and color it and pretend I know what I’m doing! :)

Well, I’m a dumbass: Upon re-reading the past week, I’ve found that Abbie herself SAYS these are Wood Elves. So the guess I made above is quite redundant. :(

Heavily modded, certainly, but I’ve seen Wood Elf armies like this.

. . . And resisted the temptation to put one together myself.

(For those of you who’s resistance is failing, you might want to take a look at the Wargames Foundry Elves, which tend more towards ‘A Midsummer nights dream’ than Tolkien – Though be warned, they’ve had a *major* price hike, and they don’t come with as many additional little sprites, spriggans, pixies and toadstools as they used to)

  17. These are pretty much straight Wood Elves, save that Ariel (the butterfly-winged character holding a staff) hasn’t been seen in a few editions of the game. All the little sprites and tree branches and stuff? Yeah…those actually come in Wood Elf boxes.

…painting cutie marks onto the unicorns is optional.

Is that “Miskatonic School for Girls” game a fact?

I wouldn’t be surprised after having encountered Tentacle Bento.

@Derek; True for the sprites, but all those flowers and butterflies must mean Abbie’s been hitting the green stuff pretty hard. . . .
