You know, I was just thinking about this last night while the WWE was on in the background. (SyFy network – the noise is comforting, oddly enough) How do players like Sting keep that elaborate makeup from turning all mush-face ten seconds in? Same with larpers; I sweat like a cold drink in the Amazon, it simply wouldn’t work.

As a cosplayer, I can not stress this enough- SEAL YOUR BODY PAINT! If your paint could possibly get on others’ clothes, cosplays, or even con property, it’s rude to others. Sorry for the rant. I’ve actually had a cosplay damaged from this.

I agree with Kamisori. If it takes hours to make it look perfect then seal it. It is rude to get on others and not nice to ruin their day with your inability to buy a sealant.

To answer Sigurther, Sting uses grease paints.

Tricky sure, but also awesome, never done it myself but I must admit that the dedication it takes impresses me 🙂

you need hug repelant for that.
immense stink, sweaty skin and clothes are a natural shield.
and it gets you room in bus and train. j/k

But body art done by laymen can be dangerous.

What do you use to seal body paint?

DarQuing usually some sort of oil that cures the colors to the skin.
I’d prefer using drying paints, though (like rubber/latex variants; looks like mystique in the xmen movies, though).

I’ve worked in a costume shop for almost 19 years and I can suggest a few things. You might want to look for things like Barrier Spray for sealing and No Sweat, which is an antiperspirant. You could also create your own body paint using things like Liquiset mixed with a crushed pancake makeup.

Course there’s a ton of products to talk about….Makeup is fun!

The easy route: use a body stocking instead. Sure, it might not be quite as awesome, but it will be much, much better for con halls.
    And hugs.

    Also, leopard girls are cute.

Eh. Just go for the full body tattoo. 🙂

Or permanent marker – that does wear off eventually.
