Despite what it says in the book, this is how I would run this scene. Because just because a mushroom CAN talk to you psychically, doesn’t mean it knows words, or you know how to interpret its psychic impressions…

Ok, I’m unclear. Does Sarah’s character have both cleric and mage levels or is she a custom class that gets healing spells along with wizard magic?

I actually ran this exact thing a few years back, and we did indeed do it as charades. The players loved it, though.

Right now I’m in a game of Mega Traveller, and we are in an abandoned alien ship trying to stop it from hitting a planet and killing everyone. Problem is, no one has any idea who these aliens were or how to use their language/computers.

And while “Speak with Animals” works on Coral, that doesn’t mean they can actually convey anything useful. Or anything at all really. Coral aren’t smart.

Wusemajor: It was established via Word of Alina that Sarah is a multiclass Cleric/wizard. She also has Turn Undead abilities, as Abbie mentions in a joke about the zombie apocalypse in a previous strip.

@WusMajor her cleric could have the Magic Domain and therefore has some basic mage training. But then again she isn’t tanked up like Mr Iron britches like most standard clerics.

My guess is that she is an old school character and is dual classed Cleric-Mage. Twice the exp cost and twice the restrictions but decent saves and a bigish spell list. Tough to play unless you have decent stat scores in I-W-Ch

@ Aline – I agree wholeheartedly on that exact point. It makes for fun, though at times frustrating, role-play.

Oh, here is a good question – do we have any information outside of general archetypes and races, what classes and levels their characters are?

@WuseMajor I think Alina said somewhere or other that she’s a dual class cleric/wizard.

She’s a multiclass, Wuse. Confirmed by Layne here.

  15. Disloyal Subject Says:

To go into further detail, she’s got at least six levels in Cleric, and is also a Wizard. They’re running 3.5, so she may be a Cloistered Cleric, and might have the Pact domain to get Sense Motive as a class skill.
