Having a talk…
Having a talk…

…Like adult people do. They talk about things. Even if it’s uncomfortable.

Don’t see why being an adult requires you to talk to people you don’t want to talk to.

Maybe Wayne should be the one making some efforts, since, you know, he’s the one who screwed up in the first place.

I certainly see no reason to talk to people who I don’t like, but maybe he should move out if his housemate is one of those.

I can see the next comic strip coming from a mile away.

Panel #1: The guy asks do Dustin know who is in charge of the Changeling game?”
    Panel #2: Dustin answers “No.”
Panel #3: The guy answer, “It’s Wayne.”
    Panel #4: Cue Dustin fainting

  5. Weatherheight Says:

Having it out with a friend is always rough – if you have to cut them out of your life because of financial or social reasons (unwilling to watch or enable self-destructive behavior any longer), that’s one thing. Both of them behaved badly (although Dustin’s behavior is somewhat more understandable) – both of them need to step up and work on fixing the relationship. If that doesn’t work out, one of them needs to move out.

I don’t like to talk to my fellow adults. They are just so childish.

Anyone else enjoying the women’s/men’s room signs and “Nerd Filth Remover” in the background? That gave me my first chuckle of the morning.

Ummm.. Michael, you do have a job right? If you are employed in any way, you WILL have to talk to someone you don’t like at some point. Or maybe you were just talking about personal life, which, yeah a person might be able to pull off.

Wait, what has Wayne done? My internet goes out and suddenly every webcomic I follow has dramatic world changing events. It’s a conspiracy I tells ya!

Yeah, why talk to someone you disagree with or don’t like? It isn’t like rational discussion can bring people closer or allow them to possibly see things from a different perspective. Remember kids, what you already believe is absolutely correct, and whatever motivation you attribute to others is obviously the only factor in their reasoning.

  12. Yeah, I’d definitely say “Wayne is the one who screwed up, Wayne is therefore the one who should be apologizing” and leave it at that.

If someone upsets you, deal with it. By choosing to wallow in animosity over mistakes that others have made, you injure them, yourself and anyone caught in between. Talk it through and you’ll come to a resolution: either you can come to terms with one another and heal, or you can’t and move on. Ignoring your problems only makes them worse.

I was on Dustin’s side initially when the cheating at the vampire game went down, but this is just petulant of him. He’s doing exactly what you’re not supposed to do with things like this: Taking them personally.

  15. zmortis Says:

Meh, talking with people you disagree with is over rated. I’d keep interaction minimal also in Dustin’s place. It’s not a matter of right or wrong, it’s a matter of personal preference.

  16. Elizabeth Says:

Okay, Wayne may have been at fault (not taking sides on that) but that doesn’t mean he must be the one to extend the olive branch. Either side who wants peace can be the bigger person and do so. That being the harder part of being a friend and all.

  17. I can easily see Dustin having decided that Wayne is not worth bothering with.

  18. @ArthurRex12
It’s hard to not take it personally when you get screwed over by a friend and he even blames you for getting angry.

You put a lot of yourself into a character and being treated this way (getting killed by a cheater) can definitally upset you.

So to me it is clear. Wayne needs to be the one talking to Dustin. So far we have no indication that he ever apologized and tried to explain the Situation.

So far we only had Joel explain things, and his explanations were… unsatisfying.
“Yeah we planned this, but didn’t wanna tell you, so we killed you off”

  19. Also. Why is nameless guy even interfering here?

    Can’t Wayne talk himself?

  20. Gothicus Says:

The first rule of LARP: The STs Word is Final.
There will always be times when the ST needs to make a judgement call and the players seldom if ever know the full facts of what’s occurring and the ST has a whole room of players to deal with so he cant be everywhere at once. As an ST Wayne does not need to apologise for making a judgement call.

However, no one can get it right all of the time and a bad call can often snowball from something utterly trivial into a game breaking disaster if the ST is not careful.
Wayne might not need to apologise for making a judgement call but as a friend he should apologise for his judgement call causing such unintended consequences.

To be honest the one owing both of them an apology is the ass who caused the whole mess in the first place because he blatantly tried to twist the rules to his advantage instead of playing fair and both Wayne and Dustin know it.

    Posted May 17th, 2017 at 11:59 am
  21. No, the ST’s word is not final (except in the game). Outside of it is a whole different story.

There are people who have shown that they are not fit to game with, and I refuse to do so. It is not worth the aggravation.

  22. Antani Says:

No Gothicus, this isn’t a matter of ST word being or not final.

No one is disputing that, it’s just that the ST (wayne) screwd up badly, attacked Dustin personally when he pointed out to his judgement being wrong, and basically made a bad situation worse.

If it was a honest mistake well shit happens, but that was a deliberately bad call with insult on top.
