Shouldn’t the landlord cover the plumber? That’s usually how it works in those agreements. The tenants are not responsible for replace roofs or AC units when they breakdown. Granted, depending on the landlord it could take a month or four to get a plumber over.

MacDiver – I can’t find the comic where I mentioned it, but Dustin owns the house and is renting it out to his friends. Hence, his stress :p

I know what he is going through. Just replaced our water feed line between the house and the street feed. That was a painful experience for my wallet.

Ironically, just had this happen. Pipe burst in above apartment. Turned the hallway into a waterfall. Thankfully, management covered.

i´m surprised they still haven´t found a new renter – where i live, you could advertise to rent out a freaking closett and people would come flocking….as for the ‘mundanes too freaked to rent from a geek’-thing, why not put up a notice at the lair? in other words, look for a fellow geek. heck, spread the word at their larps, someone must know someone looking for a place to stay where the landlord doesn´t frown if you move in with several pieces of armour and a few battle axes 😉

I was expecting someone to make a petty “shouldn’t have fought with Wayne” remark, and unfortunately I was correct.

Again I see it. “Ha ha ha, Dustin. This is what you get for arguing with Wayne.” Look, Wayne is the one in the wrong on the matter. Dustin put time, effort, and planning into his character. He had all of that negated by someone looking at his character sheet and throwing a tantrum. And that was the “plan b.” “Plan A” was to throw his cape over his head like a toddler. Then, after that, Wayne wants to “talk.” This talk was probably going to be explaining why Dustin has no right to be mad over the situation. Why do I think this? Because instead of going up to Dustin himself and saying, “I’m sorry. I made a bunch of bad decisions I thought were compromises when I should have told him to shut up, sit down, and roleplay. I completely ruined your character and made the months/years that you put into my game completely meaningless. At the very least I should have reigned him in so your character could come back,” he instead sent someone to serve as a proxy and give Dustin an ultimatum. “We “talk” which involves you swalling your pride and anger and apologizing for being angry at me or I move out.” Dustin is pissed and rightfully so. Rather than try to address that Wayne has decided to throw away his friendship. Things might be going bad for Dustin but I remember looking for an apartment on a fixed budget. Wayne is probably in a similar situation unless he moved in with someone else.

  14. Robrecht Says:

Now… Dustin is the homeowner and therefore there is no landlord who the responsibility is shifted to.

But if Dustin is a responsible adult (which we should assume he is until proven otherwise) he should have homeowner’s insurance for this sort of situation.

ouch. been there- with my car. First the battery died for no reason, then my dad borrows my car to ‘test’ the new battery and kills the oil pan.

A lot of homeowners insurance companies would require him to pay the plumber then re-imburse him- hence the bookkeeping.

Dustin dosn’t need Wayne, just another roommate.

    whys he covered in stains?

  19. Joe Says:

Wayne was completely, utterly, absolutely wrong, yes, but to err is human. I wouldn’t thrown down a friendship for a game – if I didn’t like the Gamemaster, I’d leave the game and keep my friend

Still, I don’t think it’ll be the point of this arc. And I wouldn’t think finding another gaming roommate would be that difficult – heck, Marc could fit the bill.

  20. Ozzi Says:

@Barnabus they are water discolouration of cloth due to wetness.

  21. I expect the apparent stains are water.

  22. Stephen Says:

@Girly_Gus True, the best course of action for Dustin is to write Wayne off, even as a friend, and find another roommate. That will take time though, like getting a new job. In the mean time we don’t have to pretend that Dustin is getting what he deserves.

@Barnabus He hasn’t had time to do the laundry; the washing machine might very well be suffering from their plumbing problem (if they have one; a washing machine that is, they definitely have a plumbing problem) and of course reason three artistic choice to show his life in decline.

For now I think this song sums up Dustin’s current state quite nicely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4539G-5yUgg

  23. Of course, the way I see this going, I think the *arc* is leading towards some way of Dustin being wrong and Wayne being right, and I don’t like that, but I think that’s the way the comic itself is leaning.

  24. Kat Says:

So no one else found the real picture of Carrie Fisher in the background jarringly out of place? I mean, I understand and appreciate it, but it jarred my eyes given that it doesn’t mesh with the rest of the comic style. This is not a criticism so much as an inquiry on how art is perceived by others.

    Posted February 26th, 2018 at 3:46 am
  25. Kat, I found it notable because of the difference in style and then thought it was a nice touch. The style did not bother me.
