Vampires

January 17, 2007

Ahh. vampire politics. It’s like high school, but with fangs…

Vampire: The Masquerade was the first game I ever played. I had just returned Canada after nearly a year of traveling, and while I had lots of cool travel stories to tell, I had a really back hankering to geek out. I heard about a one-shot vampire game that was going to be held at the yearly gaming convention, and decided to give this whole ‘LARP’ thing a chance.

The game was set in London during the Blitz. We were playing in the basement of the convention hall, which gave the room a sort of bunker-like charm that really helped set the scene, especially when the ST turned on the recording he had of an air-raid siren. I was playing an air-headed flapper of a Toreador, and most of my memories of the night were of flouncing around and tittering obnoxiously. It wasn’t a character I would have chosen for myself, but it was a hell of a lot of fun.

I’ve been hooked ever since.
