They’re the reason I will never play any type of character that stat dumps constitution, despite my history of near constant crit fails for constitution saves…

Ahhhh! Wraiths (or Dread Wraiths, as the case may be, given the Constitution Drain), are the worst to fight, and for a CR 13 threatening for an Epic (Level 20+) party.

They are absolutely terrifying, as the only way to cure that Constitution Drain is a spell that has a cast time of 3 rounds… and only cures one person. And costs 100 GP per cast.

The expressions in the last panel are spot on. Well done!

Effing wraiths. They are much more dangerous than their CR claims.

I am surprised that all of the experienced D&D players, or even all but one (Steph looks more miffed, which doesn’t give whether she knew ahead of time or not) were surprised by the constitution damage. I agree, not everyone memorizes the monster manual, though some certainly do, I’d still expect less overall shock value.

The being put out because the fact, con or sans surprise, that is believable though.

What edition are they even playing? I thought they were using 3.5 or Pathfinder.

Used to play AD&D, back then wraiths were some of the worst player’s nightmares. The new editions made it even worse :C

You don’t need to memorize the Monster Manuel/Bestiary or whatever. You just need to fight wraiths once. And you will never forget how much they everloving suck. And wraiths with spring attack coming out of corridor walls still give me flashbacks.
