Oh dang, I totally forgot Abbie was off executing her own plan! Rather fitting, I guess – that was kind of exactly her intention in going off secretly in the middle of the action.

Abbie’s missed a few rounds of combat with her plan. Whatever she’s up to had better be spectacular to make up for that.
Hmmm… the enemy is a magic user, so is probably fairly squishy. Is Abbie going to one-shot them with a critical hit sneak attack?

“Your own actions” – Hardly fair after casting Command on someone…

Weird that the barbarian’s role is Tank and the paladin is (seemingly) a DPS.

I’ve been assuming that Abbie’s plan is to swipe the gem.

So… if only Abbie survives then that’s still not a TPK. I’m not sure how much that would be appreciated by the rest of the group if she doesn’t make her move soon!

Wow. Tanks in a ttrpg? Do they know this isn’t Warcraft? Because Barbarians can’t so much do that job for long!

Also if my players ever behaved so heartlessly about a PC death we would have a loooong talk after the fight was over…

@Azraphon I ran a Barb in 5th ed for 2 years and I actually got bored with him because there was virtually no chance he could die. Between the amount of hit points plus raging and other Barb skills I never got anywhere near 0 HP.

And you’re talking about players who are in the middle of combat, trying to survive themselves. Are they supposed to stop in the middle of the game to buy flowers and give Mark condolences? Plus in a previous comic the girls are clearly being sympathetic to him.

Here we see the Elven Pocky-Ninja in her natural habitat, among the rafters in shadowy corners. The Pocky-Ninja often uses its superior leg muscles to leap at opponents, while shouting a fierce battle-cry. While this may seem counterproductive, the battle cry is essential for striking fear into the hearts of its foes.

Unfortunately, the Pocky-Ninja is a dying breed, due to both absurd amounts of sugar in its diet and the sense god gave a lemming.

I interpreted the party’s relatively nonchalant reaction to Mark the Barbarian’s death as indicative of the rather jaded kind of attitude people might develop in a world where the dead can be raised with little more than a monetary setback. Which is also why I personally prefer game rules and/or settings where death is a little harder to reverse.

While the term tank may have originally come from digital rpgs it has definitely transfered over to table top
d and d barbarians are tanks, they have the largest hit die, with their rage they have damage resistance, plus with their heavy hitting the enemy has reason to target them alot of the time

Guys I am going to the store who wants anything. Is it OK if I take the blank character sheet to xerox at kinkos?

Even though assassins come with the “evil” alignment required, they’re very useful to have around if they have a few rounds… because in most cases ninjas aren’t going to kill someone in a single round.
Unless you’re playing pathfinder where ninjas inexplicably get something that only requires one round of study instead of 3, as early as level 10.
