Yes, let’s air out everything. Very seldom are situations like these caused by one thing, but rather multiple things all piling up on each other over time.

Also, if her moms name is Nora, I will be inordinately happy.

Pancakes are love. Pancakes are life.
In a pinch, waffles or french toast will suffice.
Top them with syrup and butter or jam
Pair them with sausage or bacon or ham
Make them yourself, or go out for a treat
Either way, pancakes are awesome to eat 🙂

Have you a recipe for ‘real good’ gluten free pancakes? Tried so so many and they all taste like rice waffles or cardboard.
The saying is great, by the way.

One thing about storylines where a character screws up is that you can get a lot of this sort of character building moments without making it sound overly forced. In moments of weakness, people open up and others are there to listen and comfort, help making them feel better. A lot of soul searching, some of the ‘I bet you’re wondering how we got here…’ moments. You can have a character talk about some of the bad things in their past, weaknesses they’ve felt and it all sounds organic.

The Werefrog wonder what Mark will be like at the end of this arc. Sure, he’s gone from Changeling, but we haven’t addressed his other LARPs yet. We’re getting a good pick up the pieces now, but will we get another fall apart if he’s banned from other games since there’s so many of the same people at the other games.

Gluten free pancakes are amazeballs. It’s the one bread item I eat that isn’t ruined by being gluten free.

Also, her mom is VERY wise.

    The voices of Evil:

    “He has eaten the pancake.”
“He will never come back to us now.”
“Truly this is our blackest hour.”

i´m resisting the urge to make a comment about pancakes here, especially because american-style pancakes and german-style ones are so different its basically a seperate dish 😉
also, marcs parents divorced? maybe we´re nearing the root of the problem….because i´ve had the feeling for the longest time that marc has no idea of how a healthy(!) relationship works. lets be honest, with jess he was basically a doormat, doing whatever SHE wanted (dollies) and unable/afraid to talk about his wants+needs, and it was also this lack of communication that lead to the whole ravenia blow-up. if he´d been able to honestly talk to her about his fears+insecurities, she could have reassured him, and the meeting with her primary would have happened in a more private setting

But the first two lines do not rhyme. And then, there is the scansion. So …
Pancakes are love. Pancakes are nice.
In a pinch, waffles or french toast’ll suffice.
    OK, rant over.

Now, if Mark were fussing over verse like I just was, he would be out of his funk for a bit.

Gene Wirchenko- rant noted. Still not a bad attempt for 3AM 🙂

Still I must say that when one is up late
Concepts like poems are nice to debate
I’d rather talk rhyming and what I could say
Than politics, churches, or wars any day

I’m puzzled – in which dialect of English does life not rhyme with nice and suffice?

Pancakes are amazing. We have them at least once a week. Sometimes more like 3.

My oldest boy sat at every counter while we were house hunting to see if the kitchen was a good place for pancake mornings. He wants to sit at the island and have Mr flip pancakes directly onto his plate.

I make triple batches just to be able to eat any. My kids eat them faster than I can churn them out. Time to get a second griddle!

@Jess in most of them, I’d say, unless you have a very bad lisp.
Life rhymes with knife and lice rhymes with nice. I’m non-native, though, so I might be missing sime elusive nuance.

I believe that “life” and “suffice” qualify as slant rhymes, which is a legitimate poetic device: https://www.masterclass.com/articles/what-is-slant-rhyme-understanding-the-definitions-of-slant-rhyme-and-why-slant-rhymes-are-useful-in-writing-with-examples

I have a strange feeling we are about to see a whole lot of “abandonment issues being worked out”………. well it would certainly explain his tendency to not deal with how his relationship problems are until they go all explodey in his face.
