Christmas Break, then a new chapter in the New Year!
Christmas Break, then a new chapter in the New Year!

Hey everyone!! Thanks for sticking with me through a long and intense chapter. Chapter 17 has wrapped, and rather than start something new, I’m going to take my usual 2 weeks off for Christmas. I’ll be running sketches and some other fun surprises over the holiday weeks, though, so please check back!

We’ll start a new chapter in the New Year! 2020!!!

A step. A small step but still a step.

My folks were some of those who bought into the Satanic panic back in the day. I feel I can relate a little.

The additional reading is the therapist’s Finn/Poe coffee shop AU fanfic.

My circle of friends were all gamers and I never had much problem with socializing with strangers so we tended to do pretty well with that sort of social stuff, so long as we didn’t use game talk about some topics in public places. Like Shadowrun: Okay, so I’ll disable the alarm; you avoid the cameras and go in and shoot him and grab his stuff…. “Why is everyone looking at us like that?”

*smiles* I have educated so many coworkers on RPGs. I had a whole teachers’ lounge that loved hearing what shenanigans occured at my game nights.

One game book I read related about a game of Diplomacy. It was being played slowly (a turn per week of some such). One player was out of town. He agreed to a plan and cabled “OK attack Liverpool”. It was at the height of the Irish trouble. Complications ensued.

Good for him, finally breaking free from his anxieties.

Also, he is missing his cast/brace in panel 4.

Mark is going to be surprised just how prevalent geek culture has become in the mainstream now that he’s trying not to hide. I see people with little hints on their wardrobe all the time. A nice tan patterns infinity scarf on a well dressed lady is actually the Marauders Map. A man in a well tailored suit will have Yoda socks, or the tie upon closer inspection has as subtle nerdy pattern. There will be pins, and earrings, and even inner linings of jackets, you might catch a flash of a tattoo under a sleeve. We are no longer the few, we are the many. This is the way

Welcome to mainstream geek culture, Mark. When I started my current job (at a large government department), the first thing I asked the guy who hired me was “Okay, Trek or Wars?”. He answered wrong, but that’s how best friendship is formed.

He clearly had to muster his courage for that. And went through it smoothly, even if she clearly had no idea. Nice one. And another step on his way through the valley.

Thanks for this chapter, I really have my hopes up for the next one next year.

No, thank you for sticking to your plot and telling the story you wanted to tell.

Also that the story you wanted to tell actually was relevant to the plot and not some agenda that got smacked with name Star Wa… I mean Weregeek.

So yeah. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you. Happy Holidays to others as well, no matter what you are.

Better than when I tried to tell my co-workers. I told them I was going to the local comic convention, explained what it was about and got, “Oh, so you’re like those people on The Big Bang Theory?” I think I died a little inside.

“Trek or wars?” … Best answer- “Gate or sliders?” Ask a geek question- get a geek question.

Had a check up at the doctor’s on the 17th and told the nurse how I chose a career path based on my enjoyment of D&D.
She immediately asked me about getting her preteen sons into it as they’re into violent video games. So I’m writing a list of RPG stuff for my next appointment.

  25. ShuxTehUber Says:

@Fnord Gate Infinity was non-canon and really, really confusing.
Gate Universe was Battlestar Galactica with a gate and lots of involuntary hook ups, and hypocrisy regarding SG-1. Couldn’t stand either.
So my question to you is, SG-1 or Atlantis?
