Drist.

Today’s comic was inspired by the giant statue of Drizzt Do’Urden (and Guenhwyvar!) at this year’s Gen Con Indy. When I went to go take a look at it, the majority of the conversations I overheard were about how one goes about pronouncing his first name. Drizzt, when spelled out on a page, is a lovely drow name, but the technicalities of actually speaking said name quickly bog one down.

I’ve been assured that it’s actually pronounced “Drist”, and so, that’s how I’m not going to think of him. Drist.

Hee. It sounds a little like some sort of drain cleaning product. “Try new, improved DRIST! Now with extra scrubbing action and foaming crystals!”
